For a 200 sq ft bed at 3 inches deep: ~1.85 cubic yards (1.41 m³). That's ~25 of the US 2 cu ft bags, ~24 UK 60L bags, or ~20 AU 70L bags. For volumes over 2 cubic yards (1.5 m³), bulk delivery from a landscape supplier is typically 30–50% cheaper per cubic yard than bagged mulch.
How deep should I spread mulch?
Garden borders: 2–3 in (5–8 cm). Tree rings: 3–4 in (8–10 cm) — keep 15 cm / 6 in away from trunk. Paths: 4–6 in (10–15 cm). Vegetable beds: 2 in (5 cm) organic mulch. UK RHS recommends 7.5 cm for most ornamental borders. Too deep can suffocate roots; too shallow loses weed suppression.
